  • Recycled Items

    Paper Products -
Paper products, such as newspapers, magazines, office paper, and cardboards (example: cereal boxes, etc) may all be recycled in one container. Separation is not required.

Corrugated cardboard boxes should be separated from other paper products.

    Aluminum Cans -
Cans are accepted at a large metal basket at the front of the Transfer Station building. Please dump the cans out of any bags or boxes. Please do not mix steel (tin) cans with the aluminum. Foil and TV dinner trays type materials are all accepted. Do not put pieces of structural aluminum in with the cans. Cobb does NOT pay for aluminum cans.

    Aluminum Scrap -
Scrap is accepted at the scrap metal pile at the rear of the building. This drop off point is after the inbound scale and there is a charge.

    Steel and Other Metals -
Steel, commonly called "tin", cans are accepted in hoppers at the front of the building. It is not necessary to remove paper labels. It saves space, but is not necessary to flatten the cans.

    Glass -
Glass CONTAINERS are accepted. Please Note: Do not recycle other glass products such as table tops, window panes, headlights, light bulbs, etc. The rule of thumb is, if it is a container with a cap, it is a recyclable type of glass. Others contain additives that make the glass unsuitable for recycling and can actually contaminate a whole load.

    Plastic Containers -
Plastic CONTAINERS are accepted. Do not recycle other plastic products such as bubble wrap, styrofoam, styrene (hard clear) plastic, etc. The rule of thumb is, if it is a container with a cap, it is a recyclable type of plastic. Nearly all "bottle-type" containers are either Type 1 or 2 plastic and are readily recyclable and have good markets. Other plastic should go inside the building with the other waste.

    Used Motor Oil -
Use automotive motor oil is accepted at the building at the back of the Transfer Station. Maximum container size is 5 gallons. Oil is dumped into a filter at the top of the storage tank. NO 55 GALLON DRUMS ARE ACCEPTED. DO NOT DUMP OIL INTO THE ANTIFREEZE TANK BESIDE THE OIL TANK.

    Antifreeze -
Automotive antifreeze is accepted at the building at the back of the Transfer Station. Be careful not to pour antifreeze into the used oil container beside the Antifreeze Tank

Refrigerators & Freon Containing Appliances -
Appliances containing freon ARE accepted at the Transfer Station. Cobb County Solid Waste will extract the freon on-site. Please deposit the refrigerators at the signs by the scrap metal area. PLEASE DO NOT DUMP REFIRGERATORS, AIRCONDITIONERS, ETC. INTO THE SCRAP METAL PILE.

    Carpet Padding -
Carpet padding is accepted for recycling at the front corner inside the Transfer Station. Any Quantity.

    Cell Phones -
Cell phones, pagers, chargers and their rechargeable batteries are accepted at the Transfer Station for recycling. Keep your eye open for cell phone recycling containers in County Offices in convenient locations.

    Construction Debris -
Construction Debris such as plasterboard, shingles, carpet, lumber, pallets, etc. is accepted at the Transfer Station, however, at this time, these materials are not recycled.

Concrete and asphalt demolition debris is recycled. There is the usual scale fee for disposal of these materials.

    Landscaping Debris -
Landscaping debris, such as limbs, leaves, grass clippings, and small stumps should be taken to the Vegetative Waste Disposal Site on County Services parkway. Such items as pressure treated lumber should be brought to the Transfer Station. These materials are not recycled at the present time.

    Tires -
Tires for private passenger vehicles are accepted at the Transfer Station for recycling. We do accept tires still mounted on wheels but cannot take tires full of mud, gravel, etc. There is a charge for tire disposal (regular disposal fees + $2.00 per tire). Call for information.
